Microsoft's Photo Story is a free Windows program that lets you create audiovisual presentations out of your photos and images. You can quickly crop, rotate, and edit your pictures; personalize them with captions and titles; and add sound effects, narration, and background music. Photo Story saves your presentations as WMV files you can play on your PC or convert using a third-party video converter. Finished files can be small enough to send by email, too. Many Windows users already have it; those who don't can download and install it or repair their current installation, if necessary. We looked at the latest release, Photo Story 3.
Photo Story 3 opens with a wizard offering three choices: Begin a new story, edit a project, or play a story. With no stories to edit or play, we started with the first option. However, in the lower left corner of the program's window is a small Help button that opens a fairly large Help file that many users may prefer as a starting point since it explains every step and even offers extras such as tips and tricks, accessibility options for individuals with disabilities, and a Glossary. In any case, the program's wizard made each step easy even for beginners. We imported some images and arranged them on the film strip. A main window displays selected images and let us crop and rotate them, correct color levels and red eye, and apply a variety of visual effects from a drop-down list. An Auto Fix feature automatically corrects color, contrast, and red eye, too. Photo Story's wizard offers lots of advice, such as telling us that removing the black borders from our images with the Remove Black Borders tool would improve its on-screen appearance. A selection tool ensures that the right part of your photo is retained. We added text, narration, and music, and saved our project with lots of playback options.
Presentations created with Photo Story 3 are great for weddings, birthdays, and other celebrations. With a little time and effort, this surprisingly versatile tool can tell all kinds of stories. It's a hidden gem in Windows.

Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. is the first official release by American metal band Slipknot. Originally considered their first album, the band now considers it to be a demo.
Released originally on October 31, 1996, it was limited to production of 1,000 copies. The band originally self-distributed some of these copies, but went on to release the remaining units through -ismist Recordings in 1997. Due to its limited release, the album has become much sought by fans since Slipknot's rise in fame.
Despite considering it their first album upon released, the band now considers Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. to be a demo and have evolved and released the majority of the songs on future releases, albeit usually in radically altered forms. It was recorded in Des Moines, Iowa, over a period of seven months. The music of the album contains many influences including funk, jazz, and disco which weren't as apparent in later material. Many of the lyrics and the album's title are derived from the role playing game Werewolf: The Apocalypse. The songs contain an "emphasis on non-traditional songwriting" and melodic themes more than subsequent releases.[1] Most of the songs were re-recorded for future albums, for example: "Gently" and "Killers are Quiet" were re-recorded for the album Iowa, with "Killers are Quiet" being renamed as the title track and containing different lyrics. "Only One", "Tattered & Torn", and "Slipknot" were also re-recorded for their self-titled debut album, with "Slipknot" renamed as "(sic)" and all given new lyrics

Now that music has gone digital, you just need your computer and an expansive MP3 playlist. And with Virtual DJ, you can mix and scratch your tunes like a professional to be the life of the party.
Now, we don't have a lot of experience with DJ software, but we think it speaks to Virtual DJ's smart design that we were able to immediately drag and drop a track to play. The program immediately pulled our iTunes playlist and other music files from our PC and displayed them in a tree menu for easy browsing. We selected a track and dragged it to the deck. Once it started playing, we were able to virtually "scratch" our track using our mouse to turn the dial. We did find it a little cumbersome to turn the dials with just our mouse; mixing hardware might be a good investment if you are serious about spinning. Virtual DJ includes dials that let you applying various effects, including backspin, beatgrid, and overloop. You have two decks so that you can start playing one song and have the next one ready to go to make a smooth transition without interrupting the music. Blue and red sound waves at the top of the window representing each deck let you visually mix your tracks. For any newbies out there, an ample online Help guide will answer any questions you have beyond the normal setup, but we found ourselves quickly becoming comfortable with the program by just playing around with the dials.
Virtual DJ does install desktop icons without your permission. You'll also want to pay attention during installation, or it will install a toolbar and change your default search to Ask.com. However, it does uninstall cleanly. We recommend this program for all user levels.
